Bugaboo Bee Plus Shimmying Front Wheels

Statement from Bugaboo...

We have learned that some Bugaboo Bee customers are experiencing difficulties with the manoeuvrability of their stroller's front wheel, caused either by the effect of ‘shimmying' wheels.

Shimmy is an effect that can occur on swivel wheels in general. The vibration – so-called shimmying – of swivel wheels can be experienced in strollers but also in other everyday equipment, such as wheelchairs and grocery trolleys. There are several circumstances that can cause a swivel wheel to shimmy, for instance speed, the surface of the road and the load on the wheel suspension. The shimmying of swivel wheels is a recognised challenge in industries that use swivel wheels.

Our engineers, however, have found that if you place washer rings on the pin of your stroller's chassis this will stop the shimmying effect. These washer rings can nevertheless experience regular wear and tear which means that over time they would need to be replaced. For this reason we have produced a service set with 3 pairs of washer rings. Please contact our service department if you are experiencing shimmying wheels. They will send you a service set "washer rings for swivel wheels', at no cost.

For an instruction on how to place the washer rings please click here. A user instruction is also included in the service set.

It is our prime focus to make sure you can use your Bugaboo Bee to your utmost satisfaction and that you will soon continue to have a smooth ride with your Bugaboo Bee.

Well that's their official statement on their own website (http://www.bugaboo.com/330).

Just got off the phone for the third time with Bugaboo Service Department to let them know that their resolution to the shimmying issue is still not resolved. First time I had rung them, they sent me the washer rings set and that it did fix the issue for a little while. The problem returned when we switch the seat around from rear to forward facing. Rung them up again and they sent the replacement wheels and another set of washer rings.

This is the problem I have...

Note: This is just a video that I had found on YouTube which exhibits the same issue as I have.

I had followed everything as shown on the illustration above and first try when we took the stroller out, it was shimmying much more than the original wheels. So third time rung them and they said that I had to attached two sets of rings to each wheel. I asked her where on the illustration does it show that you needed two washer rings per wheel, even pointing out that on picture number 3 of their own instruction sheet it shows just the one ring.

Their response was that on the top right hand corner of picture 3, it shows the 2x in the picture and that's why you need two washer rings per wheel. Now I'm sure that Bugaboo themselves don't employ donkeys (even though they released a new dual stroller with the same name), but I'm pretty sure that the 2x means that the same operation had to be carried out on the two front wheels with just a washer each and not two. Their own video on the website doesn't even show this!

Video from Bugaboo.com

Anyway I've asked them to arrange one of their managers to call me back to discuss this issue. Not pleased with this product from a well praised brand and company.

Update: Well as Bugaboo promised, they did call me back only for me to explain the above again to them. They said that they will have to speak to their department heads first before they can discuss resolution and to call me back in a few days.

Update 2: They are sending another set of replacement wheels as the set received earlier could be faulty so they are hoping that this will resolve the issue. He also said that Bugaboo does not know what else they can do if the fault is still there. Well very simple actually... A FULL REFUND!

Update 3: Have to say that after the third set of replacement wheels, the Bee+ is now ok. No more shimmying... well that could also be due to our baby growing up and added more weight to the stroller. Still it is a faulty design and really needs to be addressed.

Update 4: Well... Actually the shimmying is back. The real problem is the lack of weight on the front wheels. That's what causing the Bee+ to shimmy. You don't get this issue with other "cheaper" strollers so don't be fooled by the brand. It's still rubbish!

Update 5: It seems that Bugaboo has been continuously looking into fixing this issue and have just developed a new durable metal wave washer to restore the manoeuvrability and smooth ride of the Bee stroller. Check their post here (http://www.bugaboo.com/shimmying-wheels) or order the new metal wave washers here (http://j.mp/RHWFjt). It's going to take 2-3 weeks so if your Bee is still shimmying with either the new wheels or the plastic velcro type washer rings I would order the new set and give them a try.

Update 6: Have been using the metal wave washers for a week now and seems to work well. Advise all Bee owners to get them!

iPhone App Review: Navfree GPS UK & ROI

Ever since having the iPhone, I've been waiting for a decent and cost effective navigation app to become available. There was TomTom, CoPilot and a few others that were available. Most of them either required a data connection to download the maps or were expensive to buy; if compared to buying their own physical GPS navigation unit.

Anyway along came Navfree from Geolife Ltd. The very same company that introduced Navmii. To be honest, I've never heard of Navmii until Navfree became available in the AppStore. The main difference between these two apps is that Navfree uses FREE map data from OpenStreetMap which is why it is offered as a free app and Navmii uses premium map data from AND (Automotive Navigation Data) which costs £2.99 as of the date of this post on the AppStore. Other than that they are identical.

Here is a general overview of features provided with the Navfree app:
- It's absolutely FREE, *no data connection needed!!!
- On-board maps. No data connection is required for downloading maps
- Crystal clear graphics - Industry leading, powerful graphic engine
- Choice of guidance displays - Gives you the option of viewing the map in 2D, 3D or a safety screen
- Access IPOD MUSIC LIBRARY from Map Screen
- Safety screen for clear instructions whilst driving
- Portrait or Landscape view
- Exact address search, including City, Street and House details
- Add and route your favourite locations
- Pick a location from the map and route to there, handy if you don't know the exact address.
- Find nearest POI (café, restaurants or museums) or use Google or Microsoft Bing Search to find millions of places near you and calculate route there.
- Fast routing engine, allowing you to calculate long routes in seconds.
- Automatic rerouting - If you happen to miss a turn, NavFree will quickly and automatically recalculate your route.
- Route prompts - Clear turn-by-turn; voice-guided directions and a 'graphically rich', detailed moving map display with visual directions, leaving you to concentrate on driving.
- Information updates - Provides information about your journey, including Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) and distance to destination (DTD)
- Detour Feature
- Routing Options - Avoid motorways, Pedestrian routes
- Safety Camera data available via an in-App purchase (£1.99 at time of post)

For a complete list of features see Navfree (http://www.navmii.com/navfree/)

I've had Navfree installed ever since it first became available in the AppStore in September 2010. I've also tried others since then to see if there are any better and have to say that Navfree is still my favourite navigation app installed. Unlike Google Maps, NavFree doesn't rely on a data connection for its map feed. The whole of the UK & Republic of Ireland as a 420MB+ file is downloaded straight to your iDevice so your route won't be interrupted should a network signal be lost. It also has the ability to let you share your position and route via SMS, email and even social networking service such as Facebook and Twitter.

As a free app, this is top notch! Too bad the safety camera add-on is not free but it's not exactly expensive either and you get updates regularly. I can't remember when they introduced ads into the Navfree app but with the latest update it is there. But you can turn it off by buying the Ad-free add-on for 69 pence. Still a bargain if compared to actual paid versions like TomTom and others alike.

You can try Navfree out on your iPhone/iPad for the few selected countries via the following links below or for a more comprehensive list of countries @ iTunes AppStore:
- Navfree GPS UK & ROI
- Navfree GPS Live Australia & New Zealand
- Navfree GPS Live USA
- Navfree GPS Live France
- Navfree GPS Live Germany
- Navfree GPS Live Italy

It is also available for the Android devices now too via this link. If it is not available or for more up to date releases for the Android please check here.

I have had one issue since upgrading to iOS 5 on the iDevice and that the app doesn't register that I've already purchased the Speed Camera add-on. It shows up that is has been purchased and I have checked all in-app settings and for some reason the app itself doesn't show where the speed cameras are and any warnings. I have reported this issue to the Navmii team and have not heard any responses back yet. The only fix that I have found is to delete the app from your iDevice and download it again. Load the app once downloaded and tap on the Navfree Store icon. Tap on the Installed tab and tap on the Restore button. OK and confirm everything and it should redownload all of your purchases. You might as well check for any updates while you're in the store by tapping on the Updates tab.

Update: I have one gripe about this app at the moment and that instead of finding the shortest route from A to B, it routes the scenic route to your destination. i.e. Recently going from South Kensington to Hammersmith, it decided to take me all around to Marble Arch before turning to Hammersmith and if you live in London you’ll know that that is totally out of the way to get to Hammersmith. What was supposed to be a 3 miles drive, turned into a 7 miles drive! For some reason this app has been doing this for the last few destinations that I’ve entered and TBH I’ve bought a proper satnav device since then. What savings you may get from your shorter drive will eventually pay off the use of a proper satnav device.

Update 2: Am using the NZ & AU version of the app at the moment and plotted a route home. It managed to route to the motorway ok as I know that that is the quickest way home but as soon as I got off the motorway, it was directing me to get off the quickest route to go somewhere else. Once again not very reliable. Yes, Navfree is FREE but Navmii will have to fix their routing engine before you can 100% rely on it.

iPad and iPhone Users Get 50 GB FREE Starting 14th October 2011 #Box50GB

"As evidenced by the overwhelming crowds during past iPhone and iPad launches, it’s clear that our lives revolve around mobile. That’s why we’re happy to announce that we’re giving away 50 GB of free storage to anyone who uses a Box Personal account on an iOS device. That’s right, it’s 50 GB in the cloud completely free, forever. Your 50 GB of storage isn’t just limited to your mobile device – you get it anywhere you use your Box account, like on your laptop at home or your desktop at the office.

This promotion starts at midnight tonight and runs for only 50 days, so get your free space in the cloud by following these steps:
  1. Visit the app store and download the Box app for your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch
  2. Log in to your account or register for a new one directly from the app
  3. Start sharing and collaborating in the cloud
  4. (optional but recommended) Tell the world how you’ll use your 50 GB with the hashtag #Box50GB
Keep in mind you’ll need to download or update to the newest Box for iPhone and iPad app, version 2.4.3, then log into Box in order to get 50 GB. Something else cool: Your account will have an increased file size upload limit of 100MB instead of the usual 25MB!

We also updated our app with a few features that’ll make your free 50 GB even more powerful. Using AirPlay, you can now wirelessly stream Box content to an Apple TV for effortless projection of photos, videos, presentations and more. Of course, Box gets even better when you use it with others, so be sure to tell your friends, colleagues, and really, anyone with an iOS device to take advantage of this offer before it’s over.

When we originally launched our iPhone app three years ago, we suspected our users would get pretty pumped about sharing and collaborating from anywhere. In addition to the tremendous amount of interest we’ve seen with our own app, mobile adoption across the entire tech industry has been massive. For example, analysts estimate that over 100 million people will have iPads or iPhones by the end of this year; to put that figure in perspective, that’s larger than the entire population of France by a pretty huge margin – nearly 30 million.

The future of mobile is about being free of storage restrictions and closed systems. With this offer, all iOS users will see the benefit of having all of their critical information available at their fingertips, from anywhere. And if you’re already using Box, I’m sure you won’t mind getting some extra room in the cloud. Be on the lookout for tips, contests and other info about your free 50 GB over the next 50 days.

Welcome to the cloud!"

Apple iTunes 10.5 and iOS5 now available

Apple have just released iOS 5 to the general public for download. In order to install it on your iDevice, you'll need iTunes 10.5 which is also available for download from Apple. The download size for iOS 5 is just under 800MB, depending on the device you're updating. With iOS 5, you no longer need a computer to update your iDevices as everything is now done over the air and everything can now be backed up and restored onto your iDevice automatically using iCloud.

iOS 5 is said to include more than 200 new features. Here are a few to name…

- Notification Center - All your alerts. All in one place.
- iMessage – iPad and iPod touch join the conversation.
- Newsstand - A custom newsstand for all your subscriptions.
- Reminders - A better way to do to-dos.
- Twitter - Integrated right into iOS 5.
- Camera - Capture the moment at a moment’s notice. (Shutter button)
- Photos - Enhanced photo enhancements. (Edit, crop, auto-enhance, remove red-eye)
- Safari - Even better site-seeing. (Reader, reading list, private browsing)
- PC Free - Independence for all iOS devices.
- Mail - Feature set from a desktop mail app.
- Calendar - Share calendars with friends and family, and it keeps your events in sync on all your devices.
- Game Center - Profile pictures.
- Wi-Fi Sync - Wirelessly sync your iOS device to your Mac or PC over a shared Wi-Fi connection.
- Multitasking Gestures for iPad - iOS 5 includes a few new moves and shortcuts to help you get around even quicker on your iPad.
- AirPlay Mirroring - Wirelessly and securely stream whatever’s on your iPad 2 or iPhone 4S to your HDTV via Apple TV.
- Accessibility - LED flash and custom vibration settings let you see and feel when someone’s calling.

* From http://www.apple.com/ios/features.html

Like everybody on the planet who was trying to update their iDevices to iOS 5 on the day of release, I was prompted with the update as soon as I had both iTunes started and the iDevice connected via the data-sync cable. The download of the firmware update took just over an hour to download (if you have a fast connection line that is). On the installation it failed giving me an error code of 3194. It said the iDevice is not authorised to install the update. Weird as I was given the prompt to download it in the first place in iTunes. Read that it could be due to a corrupt download of the file so I went into the iTunes cache and deleted the file.

For those running a Windows 7 configuration, your iTunes cache folder is in the Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\ then "IPhone Software Updates" folder for iPhone. If you’re updating an iPhone 4, delete the file named “iPhone3,1_5.0_9A334_Restore.ipsw”. Then download again from the Apple Servers http://appldnld.apple.com/iPhone4/041-8358.20111012.FFc34/iPhone3,1_5.0_9A334_Restore.ipsw using a Download Manager.

3-4 hours gone by (my guess is everyone is hammering the Apple Servers now to get the update), once finished I restarted iTunes and reconnected my iPhone and tried to install the update again. This time round it gave me a 3200 error code. Looked it up and the problem was that iTunes could not connect to the Apple signing servers. The first thing I did was to go into the hosts file and remove the line for gs.apple.com if there is one there. Restarted iTunes and this time it updated it happily.

It took a while for it to update as it had to restore all of your apps, data, and settings. Once done though, just go through the setup process and just run through the Settings app to configure to your liking.

On review, I think the new software update is running fine. Battery seems to be draining slightly quicker than before but I hope after running the battery flat and do a cold restart will fix that issue.

Edit: Here is a list of official firmwares for all iDevices.

  • iPhone 3GS
  • iPhone 4 GSM
  • iPhone 4 CDMA
  • iPad
  • iPad 2 Wi-Fi
  • iPad 2,2 – GSM
  • iPad 2,3 – CDMA
  • iPod touch 3G
  • iPod touch 4G

    Review of YouFrame Canvas

This is another that's similar to my last post where this voucher was too bought from the Groupon website. This time round the offer is from YouFrame Canvas. I had bought this back in April 2011 and had gone for the 20 inch x 30 inch print which valued at £69.99 for £19. I ended up upgrading that to a slightly larger 20 inch x 40 inch print for a panoramic photo that I've been meaning to print.

On their website it had stated that due to the high demand, their production lead times are at the least 21 working days for standard voucher orders. I had submitted my order on the 4th of July and as of this post, I still have not received anything nor have I received any emails/status updates with regards to my print. The funny thing was that YouFrame Canvas was doing the same promotion via Groupon around mid July so why have they not contacted me with a status update?!

Anyone else having the same issue with YouFrame Canvas?

Update 1: Called their support number and managed to get my order printed and it arrived today. Problem? They gave me the right print but had given me the wrong frame sizes. Received a 20 inch x 30 inch frame instead of a 20 inch x 40 inch frame. Looks like they will be getting another call tomorrow.

Update 2: Called their support number again and they are going to send out the correct size frame. Awesome! Can't wait now to get the whole thing set up and get it hanged.

Update 3: Correct frames now received. Problem? The canvas is slightly too short by 2 cm to make it wrap properly. Sigh... I'll just leave it at that. I guess that's the problem with DIY frames rather than standard wooden made frames. Would I do this again? NOPE!

Update 4: Didn't notice it before but just realised that the image printed is much darker than the original sent. Which picture did I send in for printing? Light enhanced version of this one from my trip to Copenhagen.

    Review of Contemporary Acrylics UK

A while ago Contemporary Acrylics UK was offering an A4 sized acrylic photo print which valued at £119.95 for £19.95 on the discount website Groupon. Being a photographer enthusiast by hobby and have never printed anything before I took a punt and bought the voucher at that advertised price.

I had chosen the photo I wanted to print and uploaded the image onto their website. I was then prompted to select what type of fittings I would like. It was either the screws spaces & finishing caps or the soft double-sided approved tape attachment. I went for the screws spaces & finishing caps which is standard look for what you would have for an acrylic print. That was an additional £7.95 to the cost. The "Approved" double-sided tape was £4.95. WHAT?! No where on the Groupon offer page did it say that there will be an additional cost of fittings. Then there was the postage and handling that was additional £9.95. So all in all it costs £37.85.

That was ok because from reviews on their website, one said that "Fantastic products the really show off our images". So four weeks by and then I got an email from the C A U K Production Team saying that with the original image sent and the fittings type selected, some textual parts of the image will end up being covered by the fittings locator. That was fine. I quickly sent back another image for processing instead.

A month later the finished product arrived and I have to say that I was deeply disappointed in the quality and finishing of the print. Looking closely at the print, you can tell that it was printed with a cheap inkjet printer as with cheap inkjet printers once printed, it shows where each line was printed as it overlaps in each row and the overall image was fuzzy and exhibiting a greenish hue which wasn’t on the original image.

On their website it states that "C A U K are continuously researching new and exciting manufacturing technologies, which enables us to provide unique and innovative printing systems. We have recently invested in key production machinery, which has enabled us to further increase our efficiency and produce a higher end product to all of our clients."

Anyway for the price (even discounted) and the appalling quality, needless to say that I will not be using their services or recommending them to anyone in the future. If you looking into printing an acrylic print, either get professionals to do it or you might as well buy a DIY kit and do it yourself. Even using a standard colour laser printer to print is better than what was received.

    AddThis

A while ago I had added a content sharing service/toolbar from AddThis to my blog so that at the footer of each post it would give you the option of sharing the post across social web. It served well for its purpose but remembered that it required you to manually alter the template to add some HTML and JavaScript code to the page-footer section. If you're not tech savvy enough you might have to get a developer friend to put it in for you. Once added in though, it works a treat.

Well, all that has changed now. AddThis have completely changed how the toolbar is added to each post and the best thing of all is that it doesn't require you to change your template any longer. All you have to do is jump on to the AddThis website to customise what social websites you would like to have the sharing option and then hit the Grab It button to obtain the new module.

By default, for the toolbar that I've selected that you can see at the bottom of this post, it doesn't have the Google+ 1 option. But that can be added on by adding the following line and the instructions here (addthis.com/features/google-plus1-button).

    <a class="addthis_button_google_plusone"></a>

Just remember to make a backup of your template and remove the old AddThis code from it as well to avoid duplications.

    Photosynth for iPhone

I have to say that I haven't been very active with my blog since Facebook/Twitter captured my laziness and took advantage of it with their quick status updates and 140 character limits but am very thankful to those who still visit my blog.

Here I am slowly bringing my blog back to life with a post about Microsoft Photosynth for the iOS devices. Well there are many articles and posts about it on the web already and like what everybody else says, if you're taking loads of photos and have always wanted to take a wider view of your subject/scene then Photosynth is a fantastic and worthwhile app to have on your iOS devices.

Initially released in late April 2011, it's been downloaded 3,500,000+ times already (as of the date of this post) and I would imagine ever growing. With Microsoft Photosynth, it allows you to take not only make a panorama from left to right, but also up and down, enabling you to capture a full "sphere". There are quite a handful of other apps within the AppStore that enables you to take panoramic photos as well but IMHO this has one of the best stitching engines comparable for the iOS devices.

    Features:
    - See your panoramas take shape as you capture them with INTERACTIVE CAPTURE
    - Look and capture in all directions with FULL-SPHERE PANORAMAS
    - See the final panorama right away with fast ON-DEVICE PROCESSING
    - Sharp, seamless results with the ADVANCED IMAGE STITCHING ENGINE
    - Panoramas are always available to view and share from the ON-DEVICE LIBRARY
    - Explore the world's best panoramas every day with BEST OF BING MAPS
    - Zoom, pan, and rotate your panorama in any direction with our IMMERSIVE VIEWER
    - Save your panoramas to the cloud and view them online at PHOTOSYNTH.NET

    Sharing:
    - Share to Facebook with images or interactive panoramas
    - Share to Bing Maps to see your panoramas throughout Bing
    - Share to Email to send images of your panoramas directly to friends
    - Your panorama images are available to any app from the Camera Roll
    - Photosynth's unique capture experience requires an iPhone 3Gs, iPhone 4, iPad 2, or iPod Touch (Fourth Generation).

Best thing of all is that it is FREE!

The only thing that I would like to see added on to this already fantastic app where it saves the panoramic image to the Camera Roll is the ability to select the transformation type to be saved. At the time of this post it only saves in Spherical/Cylindrical mode. Would be nice to have Perspective mode added to it as well.

    iOS 4.3.2 App Store bug

Not long ago Apple released a new firmware update to its newer generation of iDevices. iOS 4.3.2 installed without any issues over 4.3.1. In fact, I did notice a little speed increase. Today while applying updates via the App Store, there was one download that wasn't updating because a) I'm on 3G and not a WiFi connection, b) The update was over 20Mb in size; a restriction imposed by Apple on downloading data while on a non-WiFi network.

Usually it would just show you a notification and then that be it but instead, iOS 4.3.2 tries to download it anyway. But without any luck due to the 3G connection, it just stays there in the "Loading" mode all time. I've already restarted the phone thinking that it may reset its status but nope, it is still showing Loading. Better still, the app that I am trying to update was residing in a folder. My guess is that because of the restart, it is now sitting outside of the folder. Imagine if you're updating a bucket load of huge apps on a 3G connection... You be screwed!

As always, thanks Apple! No doubt it's going to drain the battery until it is able to download the update. :(

Increase Battery Life for iOS 4.3+

Increasing battery performance on our iDevices have been on our minds ever since the release of iOS 4.0 and since iOS 4.3, there has been some reports that one service in particular, namely 'Ping' is part of the battery drain issue.

By disabling the service entirely on your iDevice, you can increase the longevity of you device. How to get rid of it then? Well you can disable the service in the Restrictions part of the settings.

For more details head over here (Simple Help) to get full illustration and instructions on how to disable Ping.

I don't know yet how much it will improve as I'm just trying it out now. I'll update more later.

Setup Google Analytics to monitor your Picasa Web Albums photo traffic

It's been a requested feature for quite sometime and for awhile I didn't think that Google would do it. Well Google has proven me wrong! Here are step by step instructions found on Google's own Picasa and Picasa Web Albums Help to get it all up and running. This looks like it's a very new feature that was only added in late March 2011.

You can integrate Google Analytics to monitor your Picasa Web Albums photo traffic. Please note that this is not a feature for the average bear. We recommend that you first gain some familiarity with Google Analytics to get the best results from this feature. Here's how you can use this tool to track your traffic:

    I. Set up your Google Analytics account

    1. Sign in to Google Analytics.

    Ultimate Ears

These days whenever you buy a new mobile phone, it is almost guaranteed that it will come supplied with a set of earphones. As for the quality of the supplied earphones I think most will agree that they are low quality earphones. Even those white ones (I won't mention the name but comes with most devices made by a certain fruit brand) are of low quality earphones. If you want to get a slightly better listening experience from the same maker, you'll need to fork out another £66 (as of March 2011) for their in-ear earphones. Even if you just want to replace the existing set, it will set you back £26 (as of March 2011).

Now, I'm not a huge audiophile but about a year ago after having endure terrible earphones that came supplied with my smartphone, I'd decided to purchase a new set, but wasn't sure which to go for. There was so many to choose from like Bose, Klipsch, Shure, Beats etc. I just wanted a set that retained the same functionality of the supplied earphones where it has a microphone, iPhone (oops :p) controls and the obvious better sound quality.

I set out to do some research by reading up loads of reviews from various forums and such. I think in conclusion from my research, which ever you decide to get, it will definitely be better than what's supplied. If you want the best then you'll have to pay for it. The prices range from £100 region to ridiculous amounts. All just for a phone... OMG!!! When I found out it was that, I'd decided to just stick to my trusty Sony MDR-EX71SL which I've been using for some years now.

So anyway, one day I came across the Ultimate Ears SuperFi 5 vi Noise Isolating earphones and I couldn't believe that it was on sale. It was one of the earphones that I was reading up reviews on and being that it was within my budget now, I quickly snapped it up. Upon receiving the earphone, it came with a set silicon earbuds of various sizes, a noise cancelling earpiece, and a carry case in the package. After trying and adjusting the earbuds I put on some tracks and was a little disappointed with the quality of the audio. Even though it was a lot clearer, I found the bass side of it was quite poor and was just too weak. But decided to keep anyway.

Recently I asked Logitech (who acquired Ultimate Ears back in 2008 for USD$34 million!!!) to see if I can get a set of the silicon earbuds because I was starting to have issues with them. After a long use, they always keep falling out and on one occasion one of the earbud got stuck in the ear when I pulled it out. WHAT?!

Anyway to my surprise, Logitech sent them out without asking any reasons or any given even. Free of charge as well! When the new earbuds arrived, I noticed that they were quite different to the one that came with when bought. They now have a little ridge inside to lock in place. So anyway tried them on and was very very surprised by the difference, even compared to the original earbuds. The bass is back! Well not huge but for me was at an acceptable level and it sounded so much better. I can't believe that I've been leaving these earphones at home for the last few weeks. Man, have I missed you... LOL!

If you're an owner of one the 5vi then I recommend you to give Logitech a call to get a replacement set of earbuds.

X-Men: First Class - Official Trailer

There seems to be quite a few good movies coming out in the next few months. One that I'm kind off looking forward to is X-Men: First Class. Below is the official trailer for it. Hope the quality is like of other X-Men movies other than X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

    New Thundercats cartoon soon!

    * Updated with Trailer added on.

Thundercats is one of the many cartoons I grew up watching back in the mid 80s and it looks like the much rumoured new series cartoons are greenlit. Hopefully we should see them soon...

"Warner Bros. Animation (WBA) has begun production on "ThunderCats", an all-new animated series for Cartoon Network, based upon the iconic 1980s action classic.

The 21st century reimagining of the series marks a creative collaboration between WBA and Studio4°C, one of the most vibrant animation studios in Japan, with credits including "The Animatrix", "Gotham Knights" and "Halo Legends". WBA is working closely with Studio4°C, utilizing the latter's expertise to give the "ThunderCats" characters a new cutting-edge look while remaining true to the compelling storylines and mythology of the original series.

    Quidco vs. TopCashBack

Shopping online is already at its cheapest compared to buying items in person in the stores. The main problem when shopping online is that you don't get to try before you buy which at times can be quite difficult as it may sometimes introduce more issues than buying from in store. But if you're an online shopper, you get the best prices on items as sometimes they may include an additional discount that may be web-only.

Well here in the UK, we have a few websites that offer cashback services to online shoppers where if visit their website first before you proceed to your online retailer to buy something, if they are affiliated, you can get an additional cashback percentage on your entire purchase. It effectively is a delayed discount applied. The best thing is that if you shop around both online and offline, you already know that online retailers offer better pricing compared to in store purchase on most items and with the cashback services, you get an even better deal and cheaper than advertised.

The two cashback services that I know of are Quidco and Top CashBack. I've been a member of both services for a while now but am more active on Quidco and I have to say that their service has been pretty good from the beginning. The only issue I've been having as of late is that purchases haven't been tracking at all and that could just be the heavy load during the holiday periods. If in the event that a transaction hasn't tracked then you need to raise an enquiry with Quidco and it could take up to 80 days before it is resolved.

That can be quite a real hassle if all of your transactions for the last 4 months haven't been tracking at all. I've contacted Quidco support team and it looks like they are replying with their standard responses that there hasn't been any changes at their end and so must be the user's problem if they've made any changes to their settings/ computer or anything and also to clear your cache etc. every single time you visit their website. Their second response was to switch to a different computer before visiting website.

So with that I've been trialling out Top CashBack and for the last few weeks I have to say that Top CashBack have tracked all activities that I've made through their website and they also send you an email when something is tracked. The best thing about their website is that they provide the same service as Quidco but even better that they also provide the facility to test your current internet browser if it is working on their website. Something which I think Quidco should have done. Should I mention that their service is FREE also where Quidco takes £5 per year for membership fee! It is safe to say that I'll be making the switch over to Top CashBack as soon as all of my outstanding transactions at Quidco are resolved.

From what others have said, both services have their issues from time to time but if you were to ask me which is best? I would recommend Top CashBack.

Update: Been having quite a lot of issues with Top Cashback since mid 2011. Pretty much 2 in 3 trackings needs to be submitted as a Missing Cashback Claim which is really a pain especially it takes months and months to get any update and cashback. Don't trust the statistics that they have on the site. Would I recommend TCB again? Probably not. Started using Quidco again. At least they track!
