PS3 Hacked!

In the old days for every PlayStation that was ever released, a modchip was never too far behind to circumvent the copy protections of the machines. The latest games were readily available within the week of launch to buy at a small fraction of what the originals cost and I’m sure Sony and the game developers were losing big due to these modchips.

When the PS3 came out, it was a hit and nearly everybody wanted to buy one. The problem with that was if you did, you’ve to start purchasing retail games to play them or wait… Now it’s now been almost 4 years since the release of the PS3 and not a single modchip has been released for it. Sure there have been attempts in hacking the PS3’s firmware to play pirated games but most of the security holes have since been plugged by Sony and there is no way of playing these games no more.

Well it looks like there may be something coming because the PS3 is now hacked by none other than Geohot and yes while this is pretty old news now it probably wouldn't take too long for someone releases some kind of a loader to play pirated games.

The question is if someone does release such a loader or device, would you use it?
To be honest even if it is ever going to be released, it certainly wouldn’t stop me buying the games that I want to play. It has taken almost 4 years for someone to sit down and crack the console and within those 4 years I’m sure that you’ve made some investments, purchases in games for it. By doing so you’ve been helping the game companies to stay afloat and really helping them to produce quality titles for the PS3. Well you hope so anyway eh Electronic Arts (Need for Speed Undercover was rubbish!).

So I’m sure if you want the existing gaming companies to be there in the future you will continue to show your support.
