I've had this game since it was released in the UK last Friday (21st Nov) and if you've read my blog below about me being sick for the last week I've had some time to burn. Since I started recovering over the weekend, yesterday I finally had the energy to get about and do things. So I opened up the game to try it out on the PS3.
First thing that caught me was yeah back into the Carbon/ Most Wanted style of gameplay. The AV was good but there’s nothing to brag about. Don’t even know why the maximum resolution was not at 1080P. Have to settle with 720P and you can still see the jaggies on the screen. And I do play this on a big screen as well. ARRGGHHHH!!!! I would have at least expected 1080P for a game like this.
As I started playing it I noticed the game is not quite like Carbon. I mean it shared similarities but you can tell it’s not the same game. I think in my very very quick review, I would play Carbon/ Most Wanted over this. They’ve spent too much time I guess on the intermediate videos than the quality of the game itself. In Undercover it felt like the game was pushing you from race to race where in Carbon you actually have time to roam around to drive to your next race. Don’t know… I just don’t like it. It doesn’t let you appreciate the surroundings of the game.
One other niggle… While racing the game would pause of a very slight second to load up the background scenes. This is on a PS3 and the disc content copied over to the built-in hard drive. So why would it still pause to load the background? If while you’re racing this would be the last thing you want. This is probably the first game that I’ve purchased that has done this and on a PS3 as well. Not even Race Driver GRID or Gran Turismo 5 Prologue has done this. WTF!
Anyway don’t know if it is me or not but a day of playing and I’m already at 50% of completing. Seems like it’s not going to be a very long game in comparison.
Are you feeling sick? I know I am... This year the cold weather has been set upon us early, arctic winds from the North bringing the temperature down to single digits and in some occasion’s negative values. I have been pretty good holding up to all the coughs and sneezes around and then all the sudden it hit me…
I was at the gym in the early mornings of early last week and after exercising till I felt it was my resting point, some guy walks by and coughs in my area. He had no regards of whom or where he was coughing at. He didn’t cover his mouth while he was coughing and that only help the spread of his germs. I had a feeling that afternoon that I was going to be the next one coughing.
And as you’ve guessed it, I got sick. I have been resting at home for about 5 days now and am only recovering now. The first few days I’ve had sleepless nights. Waking up every hour to cough and when I had to cough my head felt like it was going to explode causing severe headaches. With the loss of appetite the only food I could really take in was my homebrew of hot honey and lemon drink. When I wasn’t drinking my brew I would be sleeping almost 70% of each day. That’s how exhausted I was for that week as my body tries to recover. I had lost almost 4 kilos in that week. Not bad for not going to the gym but not a great way of losing the excess weight.
Now I’m back to semi good health. Still coughing and have the slight runny nose but not as frequent now and the flem that I cough out are not dark brown in colour anymore or covered in blood! Yep! That’s how bad it was.
So note to everyone who’s reading this, if you are sick and you are out and about, please stop and consider others around you. Stop the spread of germs that make you and others sick!
To help stop the spread of germs,
• Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
• If you don’t have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve, not your hands.
• Put your used tissue in the waste basket.
Clean your hands after coughing or sneezing.
• Was with soap and water
• Clean with alcohol-based hand cleaner.
If this was in America I could probably have sued that guy that made me this sick!

OMG! Just watched the cinematic to Valve's upcoming release, Left 4 Dead. It looks awesome. The game's story kinda reminds me of the earlier Resident Evil games but with more gore and way more shocking. It's due out on the 18th November so if you're into the Resident Evil/Alone in the Dark genre of games then this will definately be your cup of tea.
